Fresh Water Fishing
The Coastal Bend is home to more than just saltwater fishing. Anglers come from miles around to fish our rivers and reservoirs. Choke Canyon Reservoir and Lake Corpus Christi have a reputations as good bass and catfish lakes.
The 21,000-acre Lake Corpus Christi is just 40 miles northwest of Corpus Christi in Mathis. On the banks of the lake is Lake Corpus Christi State Park, a 356-acre park with campsites, a boat launch, fishing pier and day-use facilities.
Just up Highway 37 is Choke Canyon State Park near Three Rivers. This 14,122-acre park features 200 miles of undeveloped shore, campsites, two boat ramps and fishing piers, picnicking, water skiing, hiking, bird watching and swimming. Campsites feature restrooms with and without showers, grills, screened shelters, fish cleaning stations and a group picnic pavilion.
