If traveling by car, you will likely arrive in Corpus Christi on one of three roads, SPID, Interstate Highway 37, or by crossing the Harbor Bridge. Once you are in Corpus Christi, you may want to learn the local lingo to help you get around. |

SPID - South Padre Island Drive is often referred to as S-P-I-D by the locals, however it is more commonly marked as Texas Highway 358. SPID will take a visitor from central Corpus Christi to Upper Padre Island and our Gulf Beaches. |

Intersecting with SPID is Texas Highway 286, also called the Crosstown Expressway or simply "Crosstown" by the locals. The Crosstown Expressway will take a visitor from SPID to the Downtown/Bayfront area or I-37. |

"The Island" as the locals call it, is the upper part of Padre Island which stretches for miles along the southern part of the Texas Gulf Coast. Take SPID South to get to the island. |
